Here's one that bites us on the butt occasionally:
customer signs up uploads web site via FTP with FP decides they want FP we can't enable it, version error Why? When you ftp with FP it puts these _vti_blah directories in, and uploads FP files (whether you need them or not apparently) and when we try to enable FP it tries to copy over the SERVER'S version of these files, sees other versions there already, and chokes and dies. We spent DAYS figuring this out. Is there a quick fix? Nope. You will have to submit a support ticket as we will have to go to httpdocs, remove all the _vti folders, and then enable FP.

I really wonder why FP sets up this way? Will removing or not uploading the vti folders during ftp work? I have recently taken a course and now finding some of this out.....hmmm, wonder if Microsoft plans to fix these things in future upgrades?
btw, Really like your forum board and hosting services! ![]() |

The _vti folders contain items which enhance the functionality of Frontpage and enable items such as counters, formmail, etc to work. I doubt that Microsoft has anyplans on changing the functionality of how Frontpage works. They haven't since 1997...doubt they will now either.
Also. Remember that Frontpage sites MUST be published using the Publish feature of Frontpage. You should NEVER FTP a Frontpage designed site as that will corrupt the Frontpage extensions and your forms, counters, and any other webbot features in Frontpage will not work as intended. And thanks for the compliment Ed!! ![]()
